Houston Canterbury has its home base at The University of Houston (Main) at the AD Bruce Religion Center (3841 Cullen Blvd Suite 205, Houston, 77204).
The Living Room: Open Wednesdays & Thursdays, 1:30-4:30pm
The Living Room space (Room 205) on the second floor of the AD Bruce building provides a comfortable space for students to study, hang out, or check in with each other. Open office hours vary based on the time of year – see our schedule & calendar pages – but all members of Houston Canterbury at UH are given access to the space during AD Bruce building hours. Drop in to chat, bring friends to study, grab a snack, or nap on the couch. This is your Living Room.
Grace Hour – Wednesdays, 12:15pm – 1:15pm, near UH Student Center steps
Grace Hour is your weekly time to check-in and to explore your faith from the foundation up. We meet by the large wooden steps just inside the UH Student Center, every Wednesday at lunchtime (during the school year).
Have you ever wanted to get to know the Bible better, but you weren’t quite sure how to go about it? This is where we will begin. So bring a Bible of some sort, whether it is on your phone, a devotional Bible, or a sturdy Study Bible.
Be prepared to find some clarity and to be equipped with some new strategies for understanding scripture better. Also, be prepared to be puzzled. The Bible will always puzzle us because it is the work of limited human beings trying to point toward a God who is limitless, whose presence and grace is always somewhat beyond our understanding. Allow your puzzlement to keep you coming back, and you will always find new insights.
Coffee on Canterbury: Wednesdays 10:00am-12:00 noon, at the SC Satellite (near Chick-fil-a)
Whether you’re having a rough day & want some support, or if you’re celebrating and want to rejoice with someone, or if you’re wrestling with something and have some questions to ask, you’re welcome to Coffee on Canterbury. Grab a coffee, tea, a smoothie, or some other delicious beverage with the campus missioner on Thursdays at the Student Center satellite. Bring a friend or two for a group chat or take some one-on-one time to check-in and recenter yourself. Call or text (832) 819 3228
Skeptics, 12:30-1:30pm, A.D. Bruce Religion Center, Room 205
Skeptics is a small group that comes together each week to discuss those questions that you might be afraid are too irreverent, too basic, or too out-of-bounds. Sometimes we will have a particular topic to discuss, perhaps something that many of us wrestle with (like Heaven/Hell, Evil, mercy, forgiveness, the Resurrection, etc), and you are always welcome to bring your questions about anything at all. **This is not a place where someone will tell you what to think.** This is a place where we all question, struggle, wonder, wrestle, listen and pray together.
