A number of years ago, I found this gem of an article on the Anglican approach to the Reconciliation of the Penitent, i.e. confession, from Br. Curtis Almquist of the Society of St. John the Evangelist. I love Br. Curtis’ reflection on what we are doing and what God is doing in us in this sacramental act, and I appreciate that he offers some thoughtful ways of preparing for an act of confession that is truly freeing and that strengthens one’s resolve to walk into a new future.
This Holy Week, Houston Canterbury will be doing “sidewalk hospitality” at Texas Southern University, the University of Houston, and San Jacinto Central Campus. Whenever we do “sidewalk hospitality”, we are always ready to pray with and for people and there is breakfast with good coffee. This week, however, we will also set aside time and space for those who would like to participate in a Rite of Reconciliation. The times and locations are below. If you would like to reach out and schedule another time, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
