Aspen Gomez, UH ’17, has been selected to be a missioner for the Episcopal Young Adult Service Corps (YASC) in our companion diocese of Costa Rica.  YASC is a year long missionary program through the Episcopal Church that integrates young adults into the Episcopal/Anglican communities around the world. Nine YASCers from across the United States will be departing this August serving in China, Africa, Philippines, Europe and Central America.

Aspen writes:

For over two years now, I have known that God was calling me to serve somewhere, somehow in the missionary field. Where I could serve and in what capacity, I had no idea. So when I applied and was accepted into this program, I knew that God had set a plan in motion for my missionary life. I have been invited to spend a year learning from, living and working with my brothers and sisters in San José, Costa Rica. There, I will be volunteering full-time at Hogar Escuela. This school serves mothers, who due to socioeconomic circumstances, cannot afford child care. This program provides comprehensive attention and learning to boys and girls who are most in need. To learn more about Hogar Escuela, please read about it here.
I would like to ask for your support in two ways; the first by simply keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. The second would be thru sponsorship. Bishop Doyle has donated funds towards my missionary trip and has given me permission to fundraise in my diocese. I am hoping you can make a donation towards making this missionary trip possible. 100% of the funds I raise go towards my year long mission in Costa Rica. The program requires me to raise $10,000 by the end of the summer. I am reaching out to you for your support.
I sincerely thank you for your consideration and support you are able to put towards my missionary trip to Costa Rica! God has called me to serve others thru YASC and I hope you can go along with me on that journey thru continued prayers. And thank you for all of the great ministry you do for the Church!

Filled with an abundance of joy and gratitude,
