For several years now, the Episcopal Diocese of Texas has had a companion diocese relationship with the Diocese of Costa Rica. This summer, we will be hosting a delegation from Costa Rica comprised of Bishop Monterroso and four lay leaders from different parts of the diocese. This is a great opportunity for mutual learning as we strive to be prayerful and thoughtful companions in mission. While our contexts for ministry may seem quite distinct, our churches face some common challenges. How do we reach out and connect to the communities that surround our churches? How might our ministries better take account of the distinct needs of different generations? How do we navigate differences in culture and challenge anti-immigrant sentiment?
If you would be interested in being a part of the conversation, please join the delegation for a Eucharist and dinner at St. Mark’s on Sunday, June 19 at 5 pm. Bishop Monterroso will preach. Email (email@example.com) or text Eileen to let her know if you are interested in attending as a representative of Canterbury.
